Jakarta Environment (LH) Dept. checks and reviews the right location to install special trash filter on Ciliwung River.

We want to reduce waste that leads to Manggarai Sluice Gate

Jakarta LH Dept. Head, Isnawa Adji stated, this special trash filter will be used to filter trash from upstream before heading to the City.

"Our team have been deployed and they recommend a quite potential area for this filter in Gedong Urban Village, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta," he mentioned, Monday (11/26).

Palem Connecting Channel's Trash Filters Have Been Replaced

He explained, this special trash filter is different from existing LH Dept.'s trash filter. Because in order to handle trash material from upstream, he needs the best tools and technology .

"Not only heavy equipment, but floating pontoons will be also installed on the location to direct the trash into a certain spot and it will be taken using robotic technology to be processed or crushed at the same location. We will use the best technology," he conveyed.

He stated, there are many trash such as household waste, wood, and bamboo, which are carried by river flow to Manggarai Sluice Gate.

"We want to reduce waste that leads to Manggarai Sluice Gate. Thus we need new location to filter the waste from upstream or borderland area," he mentioned.
